Important Tribal Teachings; Tribal lessons old and new from American Tribes Peoples and Celts

Tribal Teachings that are very important despite the fact that many have forgotten;

Chief Seattle's Letter
"The President in Washington sends word that he wishes to buy our land. But how can you buy or sell the sky? the land? The idea is strange to us. If we do not own the freshness of the air and the sparkle of the water, how can you buy them?
Every part of the earth is sacred to my people. Every shining pine needle, every sandy shore, every mist in the dark woods, every meadow, every humming insect. All are holy in the memory and experience of my people.
We know the sap which courses through the trees as we know the blood that courses through our veins. We are part of the earth and it is part of us. The perfumed flowers are our sisters. The bear, the deer, the great eagle, these are our brothers. The rocky crests, the dew in the meadow, the body heat of the pony, and man all belong to the same family.
The shining water that moves in the streams and rivers is not just water, but the blood of our ancestors. If we sell you our land, you must remember that it is sacred. Each glossy reflection in the clear waters of the lakes tells of events and memories in the life of my people. The water's murmur is the voice of my father's father.
The rivers are our brothers. They quench our thirst. They carry our canoes and feed our children. So you must give the rivers the kindness that you would give any brother.
If we sell you our land, remember that the air is precious to us, that the air shares its spirit with all the life that it supports. The wind that gave our grandfather his first breath also received his last sigh. The wind also gives our children the spirit of life. So if we sell our land, you must keep it apart and sacred, as a place where man can go to taste the wind that is sweetened by the meadow flowers.
Will you teach your children what we have taught our children? That the earth is our mother? What befalls the earth befalls all the sons of the earth.
This we know: the earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the earth. All things are connected like the blood that unites us all. Man did not weave the web of life, he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself.
One thing we know: our God is also your God. The earth is precious to him and to harm the earth is to heap contempt on its creator.
Your destiny is a mystery to us. What will happen when the buffalo are all slaughtered? The wild horses tamed? What will happen when the secret corners of the forest are heavy with the scent of many men and the view of the ripe hills is blotted with talking wires? Where will the thicket be? Gone! Where will the eagle be? Gone! And what is to say goodbye to the swift pony and then hunt? The end of living and the beginning of survival.
When the last red man has vanished with this wilderness, and his memory is only the shadow of a cloud moving across the prairie, will these shores and forests still be here? Will there be any of the spirit of my people left?
We love this earth as a newborn loves its mother's heartbeat. So, if we sell you our land, love it as we have loved it. Care for it, as we have cared for it. Hold in your mind the memory of the land as it is when you receive it. Preserve the land for all children, and love it, as God loves us.
As we are part of the land, you too are part of the land. This earth is precious to us. It is also precious to you.
One thing we know - there is only one God. No man, be he Red man or White man, can be apart. We ARE all brothers after all."

We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children

Tikkun Olam; World Restoration

Tikkun Olam is one of the most beautiful spiritual concepts; the Jewish mystical idea of world restoration. Look it up if you have never heard of it. I have studied this concept and many more from Kabbalah for years. The idea is that with each Mitzvah (Commandment, good deed, act of kindness or righteousness) that we help restore the world to its paradisiacal state from before the fall. In Christian terms this has other connotations. This has to do with preparing the way of The Lord...Preparing for the Kingdom of God to come upon the earth in the physical plane. We manifest the kingdom in the physical by acting as if it is already here which spiritually it is. “The Kingdom of God is within you...Not in mansions of wood and stone; Split a piece of wood and I am there, Lift a stone and you will find me”...this is what the gospel of Thomas says so beautifully. There is another verse from one of the lost gospels and it says "He who drinks from my cup shall become as I am, and I shall be he". In the Bible Christ lays out a perfect pattern for doing this work in his teachings. Love your neighbor as yourself. Treat others as you would have them treat you. Love your God with all that you are. What you do for the least of these you do for me. In these simple and yet complex beautiful spiritual insights we have the foundation and frame work of how to live out our faith upon the earth and help usher in the kingdom!

Etheric / Energy Cords part 3; Cutting the cords

How to cut the Aka cords;

There are a great many methods of cutting unwanted or negative Aka cords. Most involve some sort of visualization and intention. These are the easiest in many cases. The following is one method we use in The Spirit-Hand Tradition. This method can be taken and adapted to suit your specific needs.

As with all ritual work we suggest that you do not attempt this unless you are grounded and centered.

Connect with The Divine how ever you understand it, in what way words best for you.

Ask for assistance in what you are about to do. You can also ask for helpers….persons or beings from your own Brehon or specific ArchAngels if you want. Michael or Rapaiel would be great to work with for this task. Ultimately however you have to do this work.

Set you intention clearly in your mind.

Imagine yourself on a beach. A beautiful long stretch of empty beach with no one around for miles. Imagine a large circle in the sand. Either drawn into the sand or created with sacred stones, shells, flowers, or seaweed, etcetera. Or you can imagine the circle as a ring of fire. Imagine the circle is about 30 feet in diameter.

Step into the circle. Sit down almost at the edge right after stepping in. imagine a sacred Athame (Ritual Dagger / Sacred Knife) down at your right hand side on the ground to your right. Or if you are working with a helper they can hold an Excalibur (A Ritual Sword) and they can stand a few feet to your left facing your left side.

Also imagine a small fire pit with a bowl of smoking sacred herbs like white sage to your right. Along with the Athame dagger or the helper with the Excalibur, and the bowel of burning herbs there is a Besum (Ritual Broom). Now imagine someone sitting across from you on the other side of the circle. This person is the person you want to cut the attachment cords to. this will also work with an object or an abstract idea or place. If it is an abstract idea write the unwanted idea as a phrase or word on a piece of paper and let that sit on the other side of the circle. If it is a place imagine a picture of the place and let that sit on the other side of the circle. If it is an object just imagine the object on the other side of the circle and adjust the rest of the ritual accordingly.

Begin to visualize the cords between you. The cord or cords are located between the solar plexus chakra and the womb chakra.

Say good bye to the person, send them some love or light, or as positive of energy as you can manage given the situation. Wish them well if you can.

Pick up the Athame and cut the cord. Or if you are working with angels or other helpers you can imagine them having a flaming Excalibur (ritual sword) and they can cut through the cord(s) for you.

Then get the bowel of sacred burning herbs and set it between you and the other person and let the smoke rise purifying the energy around you. It is suggested to you that you actually burn white sage in ordinary reality so that you truly are cleansing the way.

Now you can say a cleansing prayer.

Then imagine the a great brick wall reaching a mile upwards and a mile in each direction appearing straight through the center of the circle cutting the other person off from you. Their energies can’t reach you, and yours can’t reach theirs. The high wall prevents the cords from reattaching.

Imaging the wall begging to move away from you and pushing the other person into the ocean. When the other person hits the ocean water they dissolve into glittery dust and are washed away permanently. The wall disappears then and you are left on a pristine beach. You are sitting in half a circle now. Pick up the Besum and hold it over the sacred smoke coming from the bowl. Begin to walk around the circle with the Besum held over your head and out to the side outside of the circle.

Walk the circle once until you are back to your position. Then sweep away the rest of the half circle with the Besum. When the circle is completely broken sweep the area between you and the ocean where the other person was sitting. Sweep the sand right into the water and lay your besum down where the sand meets the water. Get the bowl and the Athame; or if you are visualizing a helper with an Excalibur, have them hand you the sword. Then set them in the same place beside the besum. Thank any helpers if you imagined them there and send them away with love and gratitude. Thank Spirit, and or The Divine for helping you with a heart full of love and gratitude. Let the water crash up onto your feet. Then say any other prayers you feel you need to say, or mantras.

Allow yourself to come back to ordinary reality; and we recommend lighting an incense at this point as a blessing. Then we strongly suggest you taking Holy Water or Blessed Anointing Oil and anointing the area where the cord(s) used to be. If you practice Reiki drawing the Cho-Ku-Rei, the Sei-He-Ki, and the Raku over the area is a good idea. You can also use any symbols that mean protection and or cleansing, clearing, and purification to you if you do not practice Reiki; or if you do and just want extra sealing and protection to aid the healing process.

We recommend grounding and centering again. Repeat the anointing process for the next two days. A baptism (ritual shower or bath) to cleanse you even further is recommended.

It is suggested you don’t have any contact with the person after this. If you do have contact with the person because of work, social, or church situations; we recommend doing this ritual when you will have at least three days before your next encounter.

When or if you do encounter this person again protect your energies and do not let another Aka cord be manifested between you. Also do not be surprised if there is a shift in the other persons attitude towards you for either better or worse. In many cases unconsciously they can feel the difference because of what you did and they may resent you for it. Or perhaps the opposite happens and they treat you more kindly somehow because they feel released or lighter. Perhaps they just began to ignore you after the fact.

And then this ritual process is complete. Again this is only one method amongst many of severing The Aka Cords.

Etheric / Energy Cords part 2

The following are writings that are sections of articles I took from various places online. Although I did edit them for our purposes here, rearrange, or otherwise change them; I take no credit for writing them. this is just extra information I felt was worthy of sharing and considering.

"(A) To release and cut (oki) all "aka cords" or connections with imbalancing,

inharmonious, negative situations."

So what are these "aka cords?"

The Hawaiian Dictionary definition of "aka" is (1.n) "Shadow"

(2 nvi) "Reflection, image, likeness, faint glimmer preceeding the rising of the

moon, essence of an offering rather than the flesh...

(3 n) "Embryo." There are also two other definitions, but they don't seem relevant.

If one combines the idea of the "shadow" with the "essence of an offering,"

one comes close to this use of "aka cords" that must be cut in the Ho'oponopono

process.

The idea of "aka cords" is central to an understanding of Huna thought,

which is loosely (perhaps in some schools, too loosely)

based on some Hawaiian traditions.

In Fundamentals of Hawaiian Mysticism, Charlotte Berney says of aka,

"This invisible material, which has never been measured by science, is known in

other metaphysical schools as 'etheric' or 'astral' substance. All things--including

the Three Selves"--and all thoughts have shadowy aka bodies and can form

connections via aka substance, which is sticky and elastic.

These connections are in the form of cords or threads that reach between things.

Aka cords can connect people or can stretch between a person and an object, or

a person and a place.

These aka cord connections are not limited by material obstacles or by distance,

and they can connect persons on different sides of the world.

They are the means by which telepathic communication is accomplished."

Berney continues,

"Throughout your life, you establish aka cord connections between yourself and

people, places or things.

These cords are created whenever you think about someone or something, speak

about them, or take some action that involves them.

Thus, by thoughts, words, and deeds you form many aka ties.

Thoughts and feelings travel along these slender cords,

and Basic Selves communicate with one another through them."

This assertion that the Basic Selves communicate through Aka Cords is one of the

basics of the ho'oponopono premise that we can work to clear conflict through a

 spiritual mechanism.

We "cut and cleanse" the Aka between people, places, things, and situations

using this vehicle of Aka Cord communication.

In the Hawaiian dictionary, "Kala" means (1 nvt) "To loosen, untie, free, release, remove, unburden, absolve, let go, acquit, take off, undo; to proclaim, announce; to forgive, pardon, excuse; to substitute for; counter sorcery or sorcerer, proclamation, public crier, announcer; prayer to free one from any evil influence, to practice counter sorcery."

"Kala hala" means (nvt) means "Atonement, remission of sins; to pardon, absolve from sin, ransom."

In Ho'oponopono we cut, cleanse and loosen (kala) Aka Cords, and we also forgive and pardon (kala), and ask for forgiveness and pardon for ourselves.

In an article called "Klearing Kala, Yet Another Way!" by Dr. Houston Vetter in the Huna Research Bulletin, May 2002, No. 6, says that "In Huna, clearing or cleansing 'kala' is one of the most important issues...In fact, if it weren't for Kala needing to be cleared or cleansed us Huna researchers would have an easy time of manifesting miracles..." He then goes on to quote a definition of Kala published by Enid Hoffman in Huna: A Beginners Guide: "'Kala' means, 'restoring the light.'"

However, this definition is not found in the Hawaiian dictionary and I suspect Hoffman has used the article "Ka" (for "the") and combined it with "La" (sun, day, light) to arrive at this definition, which is technically incorrect--though in the spirit of things, loosening and freeing (kala) could certainly result in restoring light. Also, the phrase "clearing kala", used by Dr. Vetter, is redundant--as kala has the definition of "loosen, free, release" etc.

My point here is we have to be careful when we make use of 'olelo Hawai'i (Hawaiian language) words, and make sure we go first to the dictionary and genuine kanaka maoli sources for the foundations of our understanding.

What are Aka Cords?

Aka Cords are types of energy cords; their constitutional element is a threading of
different levels of energy, but of a higher vibrational level, like those with the

element Akasha. These weaved threads can grow to be very strong cords
during
longer relationships, interactions, attunements or through strong emotional
exchange.

With the Aka Cords, one can easily say that during an attunement what is being
built is a connective relationship in you with the source of the energies and the
functions you are being attunened to. It is an etheric connection, but it is as real
 as
it can be.

spiritual sources, through them, we also receive information send prayers
convey

and receive healing.

Inside the Huna tradition, creating strong cords between yourself and someone
or

something else is the way that energy and information is transmitted to and
from
your Higher Self and Spiritual Source and is the key to manifesting and “having
your prayers answered”.

We are connected through Aka Cords to all that is and all manifestations of
God’s
Grace. These “invisible” cords can bond us to people, places and things. Aka
means mirror, reflection or essence. Many of these cords are Divine and pure,
and
play out in our lives as beautiful, harmonious relationships, a strong affinity for

place we reside in or have visited, or favorite material things that evoke a
strong
sense of love and appreciation in us.

“There are several types of cords – soul cords, cords from past life experiences,

genetic cords (connection to birth parents), parental relationship cords, and
 cords
for relationships with others.  Since these cords are formed on the fourth aura
layer and higher, the cords remain intact “before and beyond three
dimensional
physical spaces”. Once they are made,
these cord connections never dissolve,
although it is possible that they could sustain damage, or get tangled, or “dirty”.
Not all the energetic cords are good or bad exclusively. There are cords that
are
created from relationships that are not necessarily serving to our higher good,
and those may have to be server in one time or another in our lifetimes.”

Aka cords
Aka cords is a term from Huna mysticism, it defines aka cords very elegantly. Everything is connected to every other thing. Relationship, attraction... gravity... Love. I believe they are also the "super strings" physicists suggest are holding the universe together.

As aka cords show up in the etheric, they are the underlying nature of how relationships connect people. Everything you see, everything you touch, creates a thread of energy between you and it. However, these threads of attraction are usually are only readily visible when they represent the union in relationships, because the cords of love between people are stronger than attachments to things. Like "Apron strings" between mother and child, they are how we exchange empathy, love, and information. This usually happens on an unconscious level for most people. These etheric cords are a normal connection between friends and lovers. Most are flimsy and fade quickly, but they can also become negative attachments and vampiric siphons.

When you grow an awareness of these threads, it becomes very easy to manage these cords with the tools of imagination... even without intuition, one can do the ritual. Guardian angels will perhaps help on your requests. For most folks, knowing about the cords is not very important because the unconscious takes care of them. For healers, professional psychics and other folks who are doing energy work, it becomes more important to keep the tools in order and cut cord attachments that no longer serve. Sometimes a patient will continue to draw energy from a healer after the session is finished, and while this is a good thing in the short term, in the long term it can be hard on the healer and become a crutch, or negative addiction for the patient.

There are several ways to disconnect cords. It is best to be clear in your intention, so that you don't cut cords which represent win/win relationships that serve your highest good. In the ritual I was taught in basic Huna, you first ask to be shown the beneficial cords, and send love, gratitude and blessings down these cords. Then ask to be shown ones that do not serve, and cut them. This method is nice and simple... but those who are determined, will sometimes show up in your life again, or simply connect new cords as often as they are cut.

Cords are a method of high speed communication and sharing energy.Healthy cords create a nurturing sharing of information and energy. Unhealthy cords can be a huge drain or a means of control. They are attached by mutual agreement, but there are lots of ways to persuade, trick, or con people into being corded. Often they were useful, but outlive their usefulness. The cord may have been very important when you were 2 years old, but now in adulthood it is no longer useful, but the cord is still there.

Cords can be a temporary telepathic and energetic link between two persons. Usually, a cord doesn't last long and dissipate within a few days or even hours. Cords aren't necessarily bad, however if you find yourself constantly thinking of someone in particular, you may form a cord that will drain you and make you feel bad for no reason.

-----

Etheric cords can form between people, objects, and situations where there is a fearful attachment; afraid to let go, scared to be alone, afraid to be without. These are invisible energy links. We normally cord to other people and also allow them to cord to us throughout the course of our everyday lives. Many of these cords are short lived and dissolve quickly. There are some however, normally the intensive, volatile, or the longer term relationships, that create cords and with a build-up of numerous energies and emotions, such as need, desire, love, anger, jealousy, envy etc. These cords can create problems in the form of aches and pains, depression, rage, exhaustion, burn-out etc.

Etheric cords act like hoses, with energy directed back and forth between both people. Therein lies the possible problem with having them. If the person to whom you are attached is having a life challenge, that person might siphon energy from you. He or she could draw upon your energy supply through the etheric cord. You will then feel drained, without knowing why. Very often, the people you have had sexual relationships with are attached to your womb, heart, or brow chakra. The people with whom you've experienced conflict could be attached to your solar plexus. Those who you grieve could be attached to your heart, brow, root, or solar plexus chakra. Those with whom you've had painful relationships, or relationships where you carried all the weight, might be attached to your shoulders. This might be the root cause of shoulder and neck pain.

There are several ways to disconnect cords. It is best to be clear in your intention, so that you don't cut cords which represent win/win relationships that serve your highest good. In the ritual in westernized Huna, you first ask to be shown the beneficial cords, and send love, gratitude and blessings down these cords. Then ask to be shown ones that do not serve, and cut them. This method is nice and simple... but those who are determined, will sometimes show up in your life again, or simply connect new cords as often as they are cut.

AKA is the Hawaiian Huna word for   the energy substance which  surrounds us and connects us to each other; it is how information and Mana  ( God Power / the life force and energy)  travel. All contact whether in the physical or on another level involves the exchange of  threads of aka material or energy. Ongoing relationship will build cords, energy and information is exchanged along these cords and connections. Where the cords are locked in has a lot to do with the quality of the relationship.

Some of  the cords we create  can dissipate our energy or  keep us locked into negative relationships or become tangled and distorted. Others  support loving and spiritual relationships.   When a romantic relationship deepens into lasting love many of the threads of the Aka substance weave themselves into strong cords which enhance the connection and flow of energy between the people involved.

If a relationship ends abruptly a lot of the pain is from the tearing or severing of the aura  cords. Other grief and loss also is a symptom of cord severing or tearing.

When you do become aware of a negative connection to a person or event or some negative emotional or mental condition I find that rather than pulling it out  or cutting which you will often see recommended.

I prefer to meditate with the intention that the negative  cords release and return to their origin or dissolve and reabsorb into myself.

Calling on spiritual energy and Your spiritual guides Aumakua and or angels.

You fill your aura while holding the intention that all the energy connections that do not serve your highest good be returned to their  owners  and that you release any of your own energy cords and connections and retrieve and absorb them back into your own being .

Some  people like to visualize this energy being cleaned and charged as it  returns.

Etheric / Energy Cords Part 1

Etheric Cords;

Energy Cords come in different types; by types what is meant is sizes and reasons for their existence. There are the usual etheric cords that exist between all things and all people. Then there are bigger cords that are created and exist between people because of different encounters or different relationships. It has become common practice in the world of Light Workers to call these cords Aka cords. It is a term borrowed from the Polynesian (Hawaiian) system of Shamanism called Huna. Another type of Energy cord that can be formed in the Reiki tradition is Een. Een is the energy cords between a teacher and a student. At the end of master training the Een is cut by the teacher and while Baic energy cords might still remain, Een has no place once someone has their full training and goes their own way. When Een is left connecting after full training is complete it can become toxic very quickly. Basic energy cords can and sometimes do and should last forever; or for many years!
