Tikkun Olam is one of the most beautiful spiritual concepts; the Jewish mystical idea of world restoration. Look it up if you have never heard of it. I have studied this concept and many more from Kabbalah for years. The idea is that with each Mitzvah (Commandment, good deed, act of kindness or righteousness) that we help restore the world to its paradisiacal state from before the fall. In Christian terms this has other connotations. This has to do with preparing the way of The Lord...Preparing for the Kingdom of God to come upon the earth in the physical plane. We manifest the kingdom in the physical by acting as if it is already here which spiritually it is. “The Kingdom of God is within you...Not in mansions of wood and stone; Split a piece of wood and I am there, Lift a stone and you will find me”...this is what the gospel of Thomas says so beautifully. There is another verse from one of the lost gospels and it says "He who drinks from my cup shall become as I am, and I shall be he". In the Bible Christ lays out a perfect pattern for doing this work in his teachings. Love your neighbor as yourself. Treat others as you would have them treat you. Love your God with all that you are. What you do for the least of these you do for me. In these simple and yet complex beautiful spiritual insights we have the foundation and frame work of how to live out our faith upon the earth and help usher in the kingdom!
Every Act of Kindness helps restore the world to God's Kingdom, We Reap what We sew! Let us Be Careful about what we Sew.
