Common terms in Spirit-Hand;

This post will be added to and updated as time goes on...

Terms;

Charging: also called enchanting or empowering in some traditions. This word means to fill an object with ones energies, and to energetically program said object for certain purposes. Like when a Reiki healer programs a crystal with Reiki energy, symbols, and specific information to help them in their healing work. Another example would be an herbalist charging their herbs and blessing them to be more effective. Still further examples includes praying over meals, blessing water, consecrating ritual tools, and aroma-therapists who charge their oils as to empower them to greater beneficence.

The Nemeton or ritual circle:  the sacred space created by a ritual practitioner. This process is also called casting the circle. Nemeton is an ancient word from the Celtic peoples, originally from fairie meaning sacred enclosure or sacred space. Also called a nemed. The ritual circle contains raised energies and protects the ritual practitioner from outside unwanted, and negative influences. This is usually done through asking the divine to send down all your helpers, and honoring the four gates (directions), while evinvoking all the elemental energies, often the energies of the major arch-angels. Also after the four directions ones honors the sacred centre (sacred center), and the energies associated with that. Within the ritual space you enter eternity. Time is blocked on the outside of the circle. Within the circle there is no beginning and no end. The circle represents many things. It represents God’s divine love, light, and protection. It represents the omnipresence of God. It represents the macrocosm in the microcosm. Within the ritual circle it becomes much easier to fold or break the time space continuum. It becomes easier to do distance healing. The nemeton works in much the same way as the distance healing symbol does in Reiki for Reiki practitioners. The circle represents all cycles. Almost all ancient priesthoods employed the use of sacred space. Even the Israelite's did this for their temple. The early Christians anointed their sacred places with holy oil or holy water in the four cardinal directions. Even the Celtic cross points in the four directions when laid flat, and it has a circle in the center. The circle is used by fairies who inspired humans to create the henges or ring stones. They also grow their own sacred spaces. You will find circles of trees, circles of mushrooms, or circles of various types of herbs or flowers growing in the middle of no where, or even in your own yard. The fairies dance in circles whilst in states of mad religious ecstasy. The circle is the primary shape of all existence and its pattern repeats throughout all of nature over and over again. The nemeton is created through ones own energies, but also with help from our spiritual allies and the directional and elemental energies that we gather. The universe itself seems to come to our assistance to help create a circle. The circle becomes a sphere of protection. A bubble radiating out in all directions. The word means Sacred Enclosure. There are full ritual Nemetons, but there are also Lesser Nemetons which can be created and used when time doesn't allow for full ritual, or in cases of emergency. In Spirit-Hand we have developed our own Reiki Nemeton's to help facilitate Sacred Space quickly and easily when doing reiki shares or working on clients, or as personal healing spaces. These are created by a series of seven symbols.

The Brehon: this was used by humans as a word for a group of druid judges. In celtic it means judges. The fairies told Rev. Loush however; that this was originally one of their words. They use it as a word to speak of all the help that God gives to us humans. This includes the entire heavenly higher-archy. We at The Avalon Grail Mystery School, like the fairies... use this word to mean and include the angels, the saints, the martyrs, the ancestors, the good sprits, the fairies, the spirit guides, the spirit teachers, the totems animals and plants, etcetera.

The Brehon laws: these are the laws which governed old Ireland. However to the fairies this phrase has a very different meaning. This refers to the laws of the universe which govern existence, and which God’s angels maintain. It also refers to the laws of conduct that God gave to humans as a moral code (this does not include outdated laws, or hygene laws which no longer apply; like the prohibitions against eating certain types of meat, and having certain types of human sexual relations).

Annwfn (awe-noon): an ancient name for the otherworld. The realm of fairie. The great veil. Avalon is the holiest point within the veil. Sometimes in modern ritual the words Avalon and annwfn are interchangeable.

Archetype:  images, symbols, forces, standard patterns, or prototypes that appear almost universally throughout one or many cultures. They speak to us in the language of our unconscious and they are the images that reign supreme. They are the vehicles which makes most forms of oracle possible. They are used in pathworking. They are constant forms which speak to the human mind in way almost nothing else does. They are the very essence of the collective unconscious.

The All Power: one of the many titles for the one divine source of all creation. The native Americans call this the great spirit. Now we usually refer to this presence as God. Also called the power that is.

Amulet: as opposed to man made talismans or medallions this is a natural object imbued with energy and power. All of these things are said to bring healing, and protection to the wearer. According to the fairies however all of these things fall under the category of amulet. Amulets don’t have very much innate power at all unless they are made of some sort of stone, metal, or wood. However the energies of the prayers placed upon the objects can carry tremendous power according to the fairies. This power if it exists on or in an object or in a payer is given by God.

Adbertos:
This term literally means sacrifice. This has many connotations but the main idea of sacrifice to the fairies is the concept of giving of ones self to something greater than ones self. You might sacrifice your free will to God in submission to him, or you might sacrifice your time to help out your friends, family, or loved ones. One might sacrifice their energy to work in order to help their sept, their clan, their tribe, or their nation. One might give up some of their financial gain to help their church prosper. Then there is the native American concept that you can research and study called a give away. All of these would fall under the concept of adbertos as would the Catholic idea of Lent. However there is a seemingly darker history about the Celtic concept of sacrifice, that being animal and human sacrifices. Several things need to be understood or looked at before you assign any negative implications to this word. The human race has a long and cherished history concerning the act of animal sacrifice when they believed it was necessary. Take for example the Israelite's  God’s own chosen holy people as the old testament tells us. They sacrificed animals to redeem the nation of Israel from its transgressions. In the new testament we see that Christ was the ultimate sacrifice. Christ himself taught that the highest act of human sacrifice and the highest level of love that a human could attain is to lay down ones life for someone else.

The Celts were not so different in this. The Celts often sacrificed humans in ancient times to appease their concept of divinity, to bring fertility to the land, and to summon good seasons and whether and bring and end to any long winters. This was not a sacrifice that was forced on people. People usually old people and young male nobles offered themselves up for the good of the tribe as they saw it. We must understand this was not hard for them mentally. The Celts had no fear of death believing that we come back shortly after death in another form and this cycle continues until we reach a state of divinity. This may seem up-surd to us but it is not logical to try and put our moral or value systems on any ancient cultures if we seek to understand those cultures. Then there was the practice of the wicker man where a huge idol, a cage was built in the form of a man. The cage was filled with animals, the bodies of the recently deceased, the bodies of willing sacrifices, prisoners of war and other criminals who were destined to be executed, much like we do to capital offenders today. We think about this in horror and shock and even make horror films about this practice. I would caution however that one should consider the Celts would have been equally as horrified by electric chairs, hangings, and firing squads because these ways of execution are devoid of any and all spirituality. They would have been pointless and meaningless to the Celts  and even more so they would have considered these types of capital punishments a desecration against all sacredness, a violation of all standards of decency, and sinful crime against the divine.

Most of the time this word is used now, it is referring to a personal sacrifice one makes for the greater good. Examples would be a soldier giving their life for their country, or a volunteer giving their time and energy to helping facilities like soup kitchens for the homeless.

Evinvocation: a ritual term invented by Rev. Loush. It is the words evocation, and invocation combined; because we believe that to do one is to do the other and these things should not be separated most of the time. So it is common to hear a Spirit-Hand practitioner say "I Evinvoke The Holy Names" or things to this effect.

Elementals (fairies): a race of beings akin to angels but tied to one or more of the four basic elements of nature; water, air, earth, and fire. They are spiritual energetic beings who can take even more physical form then the angels. They are the angels of nature so to speak, however they are a lower class of beings then the angels. Many of them drift in a haze of memory or now-ness. Unlike angels they can reproduce themselves. They can have sexual relations. They can enter a humans dreams and have sexual relations with humans as well. Sometimes although it is extremely rare and almost unheard of angels can do this as well. They do so not to confuse people but to relate the most intimate messages to people. Sex despite what humans have made of it has always been the most sacred and symbolic of acts. It is symbolic of ultimate communion, connection, and communication sometimes angels imbue people with countenance in this way but they can do this in a variety of ways. When fairies do this it is for a similar reason. They are trying to impart some of their energetic essence to us. Often they do this to pregnant women or they imbue new born babies. To create changelings. In popular Celtic mythology changelings are fairie babies who were switched out with human babies because humans are so arrogant they thought fairies desired nothing more then human babies. The fairies would kidnap the human babies especially male children and replace them with changelings who would resemble for a while the human baby. However after a while they would turn into their true forms and die, or they would become something like a pile of leaves and blow away back to the land of fairie. This is why all children even boys were at one point in Irish history dressed in girls nightgowns that resembled christening gowns, and their hair was grown long. This is the case in the middle east where talismans against the elemental woman Lilith who was demonized and made into a murder of children were hung over babies beds. This is not the case at all however. When fairies impart their essence to a baby it is to bless and grace the child. This is a true gift indeed. Sometimes however they imbue the child with so much of their essence that the child is born with an over abundance of glamour. Children like this grow up to be beautiful or charming and charismatic. Sometimes they become movie or music stars. Often they get away with far too much for their own good, or the good of the general public. They are so attractive, people fall over themselves giving them whatever they want. They are the guys that everyone wants or wants to be, or they are the girls that have a never ending supply of suitors chasing after them. Fairies help run the earth and the natural world. They work with growing things. There are good fairies and bad fairies, just like there are angels. So they need to be tested just like every other being. They also help us connect to the natural world, and to our totems. They help us in a variety of other ways as well; sometimes though less often delivering messages, and they help our dreams and imaginations. They even have the ability to help us with our fertility. They can help us in mental, emotional, and physical healing. They can teach us if we let them about healing with natural plant based medicines, such as herbs, essential oils, flower essences, and nutritional healing (eating the right kind of food). They help regulate the cycle of the seasons, and the ebb and flow of the tides. Their jobs are getting harder because of pollution and global warming. They are trying to work with humans now to address the eco-concerns. They are helping to great extent those who are eco-activists. Many fairies though are stand off-ish and prefer to work only with the natural world leaving humans to their own devices.

Angels: this is a race of beings who live in heaven with God, and work for him throughout the entirety of the universe. humans do not become angels when they die. Angels are a different phylum. However despite popular new age teachers like Sylvia brown angels do have names, as everything in the universe has a name even if we humans do not know those names. With the exception of the incident found in geneses angels have never been human and never will be. They do often take human form to walk and work amongst us. Most of the angels we deal with we never even know we dealt with them. That is why scripture tells us to be careful, because we never know when we are entertaining angels. God sends them to help us constantly. We do not want to offend them with our bad behavior. There just might be very negative consequences to our bad actions, and misdeeds. Angels are here to help us and to serve God like we do. They are not to be worshiped though they are higher then us in certain ways. They are to be respected. Humans and angels learn from each-other scripture tells us. The angels are also called the celestials, and the heavenly hosts.

Spirit beings: these beings and creatures have a similar energetic frequency of angels and usually dwell amongst the angels but they are different then angels. They are a class of or race of beings between angels and elementals. They do not have the exact same degree of authority that angels do. They are under the command of the angels. The spiritual beings I call angelic beings; which are not angels but which bare the same energetic frequencies, along with the elementals are called the terrestrials or the heavenly creatures, or otherworldly creatures or beings. The terrestrials should not be confused with extra-terrestrials which are what humans call aliens from outer space.

Totems: spiritual power aids given to us by God that help us on the energetic, mental, emotional, spiritual, and imaginative levels. These include stones, animals, spiritual animals, “mythological creatures”, plants (plants, spiritual plants, herbs, flowers, and trees). These aids are like personal angels in their functions. Some people call carvings of their spirit animal totems, but they are also called fetishes. Hair charms and similar charms are also called fetishes, as are rabbits feet and other like objects. Then there are totem poles which tell tribal history and stories to carvings and sculpture. This also includes fairie beings that adopt a human and act as personal aids or guardian angels.

Spirit guides: these are spirits that God gave us to help guide us like personal angels. We have childhood spiritual guides, and then usually around puberty we are given the spirit guides that stay with us for the rest of our lives.  This may have something to do with our soul groups but that information is unclear.

Spirit teachers: these are spirits and beings that God sends us throughout our lives and in our dreams, that teach us the things we need to know. Most people are unaware of all of their spiritual aids.

Ascended masters: these are people, saints, spiritual teachers, and beings that have attained an extremely high level of spiritual wisdom, knowledge, power, and a small degree of spiritual authority. They reside with God in heaven and he sends them to teach the people who are mentally and spiritually evolved in the slightest. They are like advanced spirit teachers if you will.

Reiki guides: these are beings who are in between the spirit teachers and the ascended masters in the wisdom, power, and authority. They help guide us in the use of God’s healing energies and power. They wield the Reiki with great force, and precision.

The ancestors: these are literally our physical or our spiritual ancestors. Physical ancestors is a term that is self explanatory. They are also called the ancients. These are the people we descend from. Then there are our spiritual ancestors. If we belong to a certain spiritual or religious tradition then these are the people who came and went before us in those traditions. Two terms that coincide with these two types of ancestors are bloodline, and spirit-line.

The Brehon: this is an old druidic Celtic term. In ancient times in the Celtic lands this referred to a group of druids who sat as judges to here different political and legal issues and gave rulings. However like so many Gaelic Celtic terms or words, this word came from one of the many fairie languages, or so Spirit taught Rev. Loush. This term was used by the fairies to describe all beings who are not incarnate humans, and who serve God by helping humanity. The brehon are all of the spiritual aids that God sends us. This group includes the angels, the angelic beings, the saints the crowned saints, the ascended masters, spirit teachers, spirit guides, reiki guides, the martyrs, the ancestors, the elementals, and the totems.

Glamour:  the natural state of attraction and seductiveness that fairies exude as a means of protection and state of being. It is the aura or auric light produced by fairies.

Radiance: the natural state of being, the auric light produced by the saints and the inhabitants and citizens of heaven.

Countenance: the auric light, the natural state of being produced by angels as a means to inspire awe, reverence, and respect in people. Glamour, radiance, and countenance are all inner related. They are called different things on the different phylum of beings.

Here is a link for further insight into the pagan concept of many of these terms and more. While we may disagree with some of these interpretations from a spiritual or historical standpoint, they are worth understanding for the most part.
